Breaking into venture / private equity

All,
Worked in tech companies on biz dev, ops, lean process mgmt + automation for 10+ yrs. Was impacted by Facebook layoffs few weeks back. Looking to break into venture / PE landscape - unsure how.

Any tips and advice would be much appreciated!
