I have minimal experience sourcing commercial real estate so I'm curious if folks here can advise on best sources. Is LoopNet generally considered comprehensive, like Zillow is for housing? Or do you need to be combing multiple sites and/or cultivating broker relationships to find the best opportunities. Any tips or guidance would be appreciated!

Consider working with a broker that comes highly recommended from your network and ask them to provide samples of work they’ve produced for other clients: market analysis, property comp reports, etc. Clarify their compensation structure to have confidence they are working in your best interest.

If you know the target areas and identify available space, you can also reach out directly to the property management firm. Most communities have a handful of property management firms with the bulk of retail space. Even if you don’t see available space, ask as there may a non-renewal. Looking at enough properties you start to get a feel for what’s valid in rental rates.

Commercial brokers that specialize in retail. This is it's own segment that many brokers specialize in.
