Best source text to compare VC vs Search Funds?

I am looking to dig up some comparative data on Venture Capital vs Search. I've looked at a number of academic studies but I am looking for source material. In particular, I am looking for internal letters or formal communications by and about Sequoia Capital and what they have done relative to peers.

Any recommendations for source texts that would be useful in comparing successful processes for VC that have historically outperformed the market index would be a huge help!
