Other than Stanford, which MBA programs are putting effort into developing ETA curriculum? What are the top 5 programs for those interested in ETA? For any people who took ETA focused classes as part of their MBA, which professor were you most impressed by?

I graduated from UCLA Anderson last spring and can attest to an incredible ecosystem growing at the school. Currently there is an introduction to Search Funds/ETA class being taught by Kent Weaver. I took the course and helped as a TA for two subsequent semesters. The structure of the class is fantastic, and Kent does an incredible job teaching core concepts and most importantly creating opportunities for students to network with searchers and investors. They have a guest speaker every single class and one of the core assignments is a deal pitch to real life search fund investors.

There is one ETA class offering at the moment, but I know firsthand that there are other classes in the works. I’m close with the head of the Entrepreneurship center and there is a big push from the school administration to develop an ETA curriculum and ecosystem at Anderson. I co-founded the ETA club last year and am in the process of co-founding an ETA alumni network.

Although Anderson is relatively new to ETA (officially at least), they have a really strong individual in Kent leading the academic curriculum and a fast-growing student body pushing towards fostering a strong ETA community.
