Has anyone on this platform run a background check on the company they would like to purchase as part of due diligence? What company/ service did you use? I would like to run a background check on a potential acquisition.

Whatever you do, don't do Dun & Bradstreet. They don't know what they are doing. They collect anecdotal information about businesses and owners from the Internet and don't verify what they have, because they try to charge business owners money to confirm the data they scraped on them from the Internet (the audacity!) They mix up people with the same or similar names and confuse unrelated businesses that a person has owned or operated at different times in their life. In a nutshell, the quality of their data is garbage. It's a travesty that the government still uses DUNS - but not the first time the government uses trash data.
