Attending ACG events for broker & service provider networking?

There's an upcoming annual local ACG event in a couple of months. I've heard this can be a valuable way to build face to face relationships with brokers, but I also know that the M&A representation extends well beyond the lower middle market, so I'm wondering how showing up as a self-funded buyer resonates in this audience. If you've been to an ACG event, how was it for broker networking? What worked best to represent yourself as a self-funded buyer? Advice for others considering this channel?

Unless you have an established track record as an independent sponsor, I'm not sure how useful it would be (my experience as ACG member for Seattle / OC). But it's been 15 months or so that I've attended an event, and lmm / search feels like it's on more firms' radars today than it did then.
