Yes, they can: the £25k cap is for the BBB's "startup loans". The appeal of the startup loans is the low fixed interest rate; the BBB itself is the lender. Obviously, £25k is a very limited cap. For bigger loans you want to look at their Growth Guarantee Scheme, which works differently: here the loans can be up to £2m, but the BBB is *not* the lender. Rather, the loan originator is a commercial bank participating in the scheme, and they set the interest rate. The sweetener for them is that the government offers them a guarantee on 70% of the loan's value, and *in theory* this means you're more likely to get a favourable deal on the loan. It's not always that clear-cut, though. Your group needs to already be trading, though, and deriving profits from UK-focused business, so it's not really an option for your very first acquisition in the UK. More of an expansion tool.
