Hello all

I was referred to this site from a member at https://microconf.com/connect I am a founder with a programmers background exiting out of my SaaS. I started looking at acquisition as a route for my next thing through sites like https://microacquire.com/ or quietlight.com but the prices are a bit out of my current financial means. So I started researching ways at capital.

My main question is do search funds work for some one like me who focuses on the technical side of SaaS aiming for companies costing 500K-1m or am I just too small and have the wrong background.

Your network matters more than the MBA. The size you have mentioned aligns with mainstreet buying, which is not optimal for a traditional searchfund. If you find a opportunity bigger than your target range, but promising industry with growth and you have it under LOI, put a teaser in the deal page for raising equity. Combination of self funding and raised equity through investors in your network along with bank + seller financing might get you to the next stage.

I am going to echo what Pari said i.e. your network matters more. I do not have an MBA, and already have investors lined up. Also, you can always partner with someone who has a complimentary skillset (like me) on the fundraising / management / biz dev side. Happy to connect and chat: redacted
