I'm looking at potentially buying a small ($2m revenue) millwork shop. Their customer base is almost exclusively commercial GCs, a mix of tenant improvement and new construction. They do both the fabrication and install. They have a nice facility with some solid equipment (CNC, etc), but processes are highly manual and paper-based, so there should be some good automation opportunities. I would be new to the industry so i'd love to connect with anyone who has experience here.

I ran a small cabinet making shop in my youthful days. The #1 place to start to improve earnings is estimation accuracy. Estimation speed allows you to quote more deals, but if you can't quote accurately you just go broker faster. If you already have good CNC equipment then the processes to go after are the business processes: marketing efficiency, quotation, invoicing, etc.

Hi Thomas - We help drive business value by implementing AI Agents and automation workflows for searchers. Here are the 3 quick wins that you could look to implement: 1. Quote & Estimation Agent (time savings + more bids submitted) 2. Invoice/Collections Automation (cash flow wins) 3. Job Tracking & Scheduling Dashboard (keeps GCs and crews aligned) Happy to hop on a brainstorming call if you'd like and be a sounding board.
