I am looking at this from an inbound perspective where an actual deal origination process is used to create constant deal flow or at least consistent deal flow. Doesn't necessarily have to be your proprietary secret sauce but a model that would be recommended.

Was the question not structured such that one would notice that the request was to share a recommendation of a general model? To answer the question directly, I have a number of industry experts on my team who I have not paid as well as those who have been paid to acquire best practices.

Also are you implying that misdirection can't come from paid experts? I have seen many times where paid experts mislead clients and to a lesser extent partners. Thus for the DIYers who are assuming risk, who do they then learn from? Who decides who is the best to learn from for that matter? One should be on a quest to perfect their craft by any means.

Though I agree that gathering anecdotal snippets online is not going to be the most effective way to learn what needs to be learned. What I would add to that is, it can't be done in isolation, where the overall search for accumulating knowledge and understanding of a particular craft is neglected.

I firmly believe a community can either add value, subtract value or achieve nothing at all. Everyone should feel and be free to ask questions they think pertinent to their endeavors within the realms of respect and the community's' purpose. I haven't noticed that question being asked yet in this forum. A question which I know if answered would add significant value to any origination situation. A hurdle I am sure many Search Funders will face or are facing.

So I will begin with myself and state that if anyone needs information on a deal sourcing process that you can make your own adjustments, feel free to inbox me with your email and I'll forward. If we can't help each other then what is this community for? Thus far this community has been extremely helpful to me and I have met some great people I hope to continue building a relationship with were I can do the same.

I'd have to second the grind, grind, grind. Part of that grinding is having a genuine reason to connect with a prospect when you do find a prospect. In other words, forget about the business, focus on the individual, what are their interests, passions etc.? Once you have that figured out, muster up some genuine human reason to connect with them (that you'll be happy about even if a deal doesn't materialize) and plop it in your CRM for a short term follow up (about the deal) and long term tags around why you might like to bump into them at a conference in the future. This is a grind, but rinse and repeat and it works.
