I’m looking to better understand typical term sheets from SBIC lenders and would really appreciate insights from anyone with direct experience (especially independent sponsors or searchers). What does a typical amortization schedule look like? Are these negotiable? What kinds of financing fees are common? Which financial ratios should I pay the closest attention to? What is the typical timeline from initial discussions to closing? What are the current interest rates? I know terms are usually 5 years. If you’ve worked with an SBIC lender, I’d greatly value any practical insights, lessons learned, or things you wish you had known going into the process. Thank you in advance!

Most independent searchers will not qualify for a SBIC loan. They are looking for existing business owners or well capitalized buyers (i.e independent sponsors or investor backed searchers). Rates are higher than SBA typically 11-12%. It's a 10 year amortization and 5 year balloon. Some SBIC lenders will not need PG.
