Anyone have experience with life insurance brokerages?

Hi -- I am looking at the life insurance advisor / broker space in Canada, with a focus on the mid / lower-mid market. Have no experience in this industry, and don't have a strong sense on how to value the businesses in this space. Know that M&A activity has been increasing and driving up multiples, but would be great to get a deeper perspective from someone who has more experience here.
