I started to do some search in the home business industry, especially in painting services. Anyone here have an experience or a source where I can learn more about it? I personally have experience in the home services business but not in painting and would be grateful if you have any stories or sources to share. Thanks, Mo

Hi Mo - nice to meet you, and thank you for sharing this topic. I recently worked on a deal for a home and commercial painting services business in California, and I was surprised by how regulated the industry is. In California, painting contractors need a C-33 license for any job over $500, and applicants must show at least four years of journeyman-level experience. On top of that, they’re required to maintain a contractor’s bond and carry proper insurance. It’s a good reminder that licensing can be a major factor in a deal, depending on the state. Having a broker navigate these deals with the SBA is therefore critical to ensure a clean and compliant package. We have a lot experience financing painting via the SBA. If you ever need help talking through a deal, I am happy to help. We work with all the major SBA lenders. The bank pays us after your loan closes, so this is a 100% free service for you. You can email me directly at redacted or schedule a meeting with me: https://cal.com/francodeguzman/30min. Look forward to chatting!
