Hi all -

Is there anyone here that has experience with a home services roll up with different types of home services businesses? (e.g., bought a plumbing business, then an asphalt business, then a roofing company etc. to make one platform)

I'm sure this has been explored, but I don't really see this model described very often. I'd think there would be some opportunities for cross-sharing labor (with proper training and licensing), and potential for selling multiple services to one customer.

Thanks!

Looked at a few in these sector. Obviously easier to stick to 1 sector and end market, be it residential HVAC or commercial roofing.

Multi-brand makes sense with a similar customer base and go-to-market that facilitates more synergies in cross-selling, advertising, operations, etc. Many home services businesses require highly trained, specialized labor with years of experience and licensure requirements, so there isn't as much ability or benefit in cross-training technicians to perform the work. Benefit is more training them to sell the rest of your business and generate benefits from lead gen. You can still leverage some back-of-house synergies for what you're talking about but more in a conglomerate type holding company.

I have seen roll-ups for some similar industries, like HVAC and Plumbing or HVAC and electrical. However, I have not really seen it get much broader than that. Because the licensing is so different for many of these industries, it is rare to find someone doing paving also doing plumbing and be good at doing both. I hope that helps.
