Anyone buy into the government or DoD contract space without experience?

Hi all, 

Did anyone here acquire a government-related business without a government or military background?  Would like to connect with anyone that has bought into the government or DoD industry.  

I really like a few deals I've recently looked at so interested in learning more about what's required to break into the space.   My W2 is heavily involved with HUD, but indirectly via vendors and clients.
