There's a company that supplies physical technology for most of the industry I work in. They've got a specialized software team they just let go. The software was an afterthought to support the physical technology, however it's necessary in a lot of workflows, and as I rely on it, I'm aware of how people use it outside of the use case it was built for, that they find more valuable than the original use case. Has anyone approached a public company to buy a product like that from them?
