Hi fellow searchers,

I wanted to see if there are any searchers or successful acquirers out there who came from corporate finance/FP&A. I'm not talking about investment banking finance or venture capital, but straight-up corporate finance and FP&A. I'd love to connect and hear how you think about the search process and some of the challenges you face, particularly that in FP&A we're "reporting" the business rather than "running" the business. I'm curious to hear how sellers/bankers/others view searchers with this background.

Anyone out there?

^redacted‌ Interesting question and keen to see how fellow corporate financiers respond.

I am not actively searching but based on my experience in M&A, FP&A professional would have the advantage of being able to do the deep dive/own due diligence (commercial/financial). Connecting the findings with trends to identify opportunities is probably where IB thrives. IB/PE experience is good at deal structuring.

When it comes to running the business, with your FP&A ,I am sure you would be able to easily unpack the shop floor metrics and consider implication to strategy.

A reliable advisor on deal structuring and execution is key for non IB/PE/ Big 4 . My email is redacted and always keen for a chat

Long time FP&A and CFO, then CEO turned Searcher. Happy to connect.
