Any searchers from the suburbs in the New York / Tri-State area?

Would be very curious to get some views from searchers who started their search with a few years on the job + family in the Tri-State area (or Bay Area). Currently developing my fund's objectives and would like to discuss some of the practicalities for searching within a certain radius of the area where you have settled down. Thank you.
