A post like this here is like throwing blood in the water during Shark Week. There are so many great lawyers that specialize in M&A. I recommend interviewing several. Obviously, fees and how they bill should be discussed, but beyond that, it is important that they have experience with your type of deal and your industry. It is also important that you feel comfortable working with them because they are a critical member of your deal team and you shouldn't dread calling them.

Hi,I didn't review all the comments so my response may be repetitive. When searching for an attorney it's important to narrow your criteria to locate the best attorney. Attorneys are licensed to practice all areas of law but you shouldn't hire an attorney that practices everything. You want an attorney that focuses on your niche. What area are you are acquiring a business in? What's your budget for legal? Your budget will determine if you are looking for a solo practitioner, small law firm, mid-size, or big law firm. Are you looking for a flat fee or hourly billing? What other services will you need the law firm to perform outside of your acquisition? How relaxed or rigid do you want your law firm to be? Think through these questions and repost. You may receive better leads for selecting the right attorney.
