Agreeing on compensation increases with investors

Does anyone have any experience in structuring established milestones or triggers for compensation increases?

Context: Self funded search, funding largely with debt, VTB, personal equity and then investor equity perhaps up to the amount of personal equity.

Want to preserve free cashflow in the business and to prioritize slugging away at debt over salary, but then also need to increase salary to market rates as growth and time affords. This will likely be before all lender debt is paid off and also before VTB is paid off.

Any ideas, thoughts or experience on this?
