I'm in the early stages of exploring a geographically-focused (state of Michigan) self-funded search. I have a handful of questions around getting started and the mechanics of this kind of self-funded search. I would greatly appreciate input for anyone who has experience with these constraints. If possible I'd like to connect directly via email/phone call. Thanks in advance for any input!

Peter, I would be happy to discuss how I may be able to help you. In addition to being a business broker here in Michigan, I am also a self funded searcher that found and will be closing on a carve out from a public company in early January 2021 with an investor group. I have also done smaller acquisitions ($2-$4 million range) from private owners using personal capital and SBA loans in the past that I have successfully exited.
