For all my fellow searchers out there, what are some pieces of advice that you wish you knew prior to day one of your search? Specifically around getting things settled/sorted in order to hit the ground running from the very beginning.

In fact, we just finished Nuts & Bolts -- a 6 month class -- to help searchers lay the groundwork you are talking about and to avoid some of the pitfalls that I've heard of.
