Hello All,

I was curious if anyone has advise for searching while working full-time. Depending on the deal, I would like to continue to work in my current opportunities and add to those.

Does anyone have experience of acquiring a business while still working (full-time hours) on other things? I know it is possible, but would you say it is worth it?

Thanks,

I think it depends on how demanding your current full-time job is - for my previous role I definitely don't think I could have kept the job and started my search effectively. There's just a lot to learn and a lot of decisions to make in a search (how to fund the search, how to fund the deal, which advisors to use, what type of companies you want to target, etc.), and it would have been tough for me to handle this well while working a day job.

But I wouldn't say it can't be done - in particular, it seems to me like buying a smaller online business and outsourcing most work to virtual assistants doesn't seem like a bad way to dabble in ETA while keeping your job!

I would say that it is very difficult to mount an effective search and eventual acquisition if not dedicating yourself to it full-time. I think there might be some exceptions (low demand from job, or acquisition of a business that is simple and does not require many hours - this being said, I still think you are a lot more prone to a "bad" deal if you are not dedicating yourself fully).
