Has anyone worked with M&A brokers on active search mandates (consulting businesses offering to search for a target actively for a monthly fee)? Is it worth to look into and are there any success stories? What are the best criteria to select an M&A broker for search mandates? What is average pricing for such mandates in the EU region?

Sorry for not being clear. We were offered consulting services (retainers) where M&A brokers are actively looking for a target in a specific industry against a monthly fees based on hours spent regardless of success / a transaction.
