Acquiring and operating a Canadian business as a US citizen?

Does anyone have experience, good pointers, or resources on acquiring and operating a Canadian business as a US citizen?

For example, would it be better to acquire the assets of the existing business and operate it as a branch office of a US-based entity? If it is online / fully remote, would it be better to relocate the business to the US (any potential brand impact notwithstanding)?

^redacted‌ I am mostly checking my assumptions. I've been ignoring Canadian businesses that otherwise might be interesting assuming that operating it would be too troublesome. After seeing a couple of interesting deals go by I am wondering if there is a way to value or discount such deals when I see them that would be more appropriate.
