by a searcher in Denver, Colorado, USA

July of 2024 I closed on a very small brick and mortar furniture servicing company in Denver Colorado with 6 employees. Sourced via high-touch industry networking. 90% seller financing, 10% dept from friends and family, 100% ownership. 6mo search and we closed within a month of going under LOI. "Just get in the game!" After 8mo of 70hr weeks, we grew revenue and nearly tripled bottom line net margins by cross-selling services and utilizing administrative assistants overseas. Now with a general manager in place, I'm down to a couple hours per week remotely operating. We did over 50% net margins on $52k revenue August 2025, with an average of 40-45% annualized. This is possible due to a massive arbitrage in our business model we discovered by asking the question "What business are we in" What problem are we solving." This has been a year of immense personal growth for me. My wife and I also had our first child month 3 post acquisition. Buying a small business is all-consuming, stressful and incredibly rewarding. I didn't know I'd love operations and building a team as much as I have. I am beginning to search for the next opportunity to do this on a larger scale. Just sharing my journey and hoping to encourage fellow searchers on theirs. Background###-###-#### Self-employed running a private tutoring company, acquiring rental properties on the side to someday escape the rat race. November of 2023 I discovered the opportunity of ETA listening to Sarah Moore's story acquiring "eggcartons.com" and soon binge-listening Acquiring Minds.
