Does anyone have a 90-day action plan template for after closing a search acquisition? This would encompass ownership transition, operational discovery, financial controls, SOP development, KPI frameworks, redundancy planning, and more. This would be for the first 90 days post-close.

Having worked with several new owners I'd suggest there is no template that works in all situations. But there are some best practices. 1 keep the money flowing, especially have cash for payroll. 2 learn what the seller did that they're no longer doing & make sure no major issues are caused by any gaps. 3 learn about each employee - what they're good at, what they do that's outside of their job description but is important, what their career aspirations (if any) are, what good ideas they have that haven't been recognized 4 try to separate the important from the merely urgent 5 when you see inefficiencies or "obvious" ways to improve be aware of Chesterton's fence (look it up if you don't know the concept). 6 keep a CEO notebook and at the end of every day jot down what you learned, what confused you and what new questions you now have. (Date every entry - future you will thank you for that) 7 it helps to have a mentor or coach to bounce these things around with.

I have a general list of actions that I add to during due diligence, depending on what I come across. Send me a DM and we can chat about it.
