Break free from the shackles of day-to-day operations and create a self-managed business. The vision at the start of the entrepreneur’s journey is freedom. But one day, you realize that you’ve been grinding for years–late nights, early mornings, wearing all the hats while putting out constant fires. Your goal was freedom, but now you’re shackled to your business. Sound familiar? Trust me, I’ve been there. The question I’ve wrestled with for a decade is how to turn an active business into a passive income machine. That means, a business that runs itself, leaving you free to pursue your passions, travel the world, or simply enjoy a work-optional lifestyle. Learn more about the steps I took to 'passiv-FI' multiple businesses in this article. https://www.inc.com/inc-masters/5-steps-to-turn-your-business-into-passive-income.html

On the topic of "integrators," how would you compare that role/concept to that of a manager or general manager? As a new searcher, I want to be an owner/operator in the beginning and then transition to only an owner. I know I'll need to gradually document processes and empower others to run them. Are integrators and managers different roles?

Integrators come from the EOS system of thinking where there's a visionary and an integrator at the top level of oversight in a business. Many powerful companies were built by these two key roles (i.e. Disney - Walt & his brother ...etc). GM is moreso the person you hand off authority to. In my experience this is often a routine process to repeat over and over. An integrator could definitely transition into a GM once the processes and vision is relatively static (maintain and improve these set of processes, year after year, rinse and repeat). With a visionary and integrator role, the visionary keeps the direction for growing and pioneers new territory with their strengths but the integrator comes behind and integrates the new growth into the existing business processes and structure to support a visionary role.
