2 years later, still the best quote

When I got started 2 years ago, I was given a lot of advice. There was one in particular that I did not appreciate at that time.

"Finding companies is not the problem. Finding good companies is the challenge.
Finding good companies is a solvable challenge. Finding good companies who are willing to sell is a problem.
You have to find a compelling reason for a founder to sell to you.
Focus on why you? Why now?"

Compelling narratives win.

Great quote! I have a saying 'You don't find good deals, you Make them.' Of course you have to start with a solid company and a motivated seller, but the 'magic' that buyers have to bring to the table is the creative ability to take the raw ingredients and 'bake the cake' into a good deal that is a win for all.

Great quote. Many searchers forget the "Why you?"
At kellog while teaching, we used to say, "Sellers sell to those with whom they bond."
