Hi Everyone, I come from a corporate finance background — most recently serving as CFO of a small public life sciences company, with earlier experience on Wall Street. I’ve recently begun exploring small business acquisition as a path toward greater autonomy and investing in myself. I’m enjoying the process of learning and connecting, and I’d be glad to meet others on a similar journey. This site came highly recommended, so I'm looking forward to making meaningful connections and exchanging experiences. I’d also love to hear what others have found most effective in sourcing opportunities — whether through brokers, proprietary outreach, or other channels. Happy searching!

Hi Nirav, Welcome to the community. I joined Searchfunder fairly recently as well and am a few months into the process. I do have existing businesses that I actively operate so perhaps my perspective and approach are a bit different. I am looking to grow by acquiring additional businesses in the healthcare space. I started out by browsing listings on the usual sites, such as Loopnet and BizBuySell. When I find something I like, I make it a point to seek out the broker/brokerage of record and also look through listings on their own sites. I began keeping track of all such brokers and brokerages on Notion.so. I go back through the listings at all such sites once a week to see if there is anything new. I have also built out a way on Notion to track all the listings that I have requested information on. I put them in different buckets on Notion, such as Inquiry, Evaluation, LOI, Rejected etc. so that I can track each one. I make it a point to always get back to a broker if a listing is a no for me, and give them info on my buy box. I've had a very positive experience in some brokers reaching back out with additional listings that they're just coming across. Since I am mainly looking for medical practices, I also network with various physician communities (on Facebook, Doximity, LinkedIn etc.) to see if there are physicians who are thinking of selling. This is rather new for me and I'm still working on optimizing this approach. Anyway, I hope some of that is helpful. This community has been absolutely wonderful and I am finding lots of help and connections. I'm sure you'll have a similar experience. Please feel free to reach out to me if you would like to jump on a call sometime. Best, AJ
