Maximum Investment Size Appropriate for Search Backers

How large have folks seen search investments have be?

I know an experienced executive who lined up a $20mm EBITDA platform (three smaller business being combined at close, all currently under LOI) and at that scale I believe he is best suited to going with an independent sponsor model and seeking capital from MM PE or family offices, instead of the traditional search investors.

Probably seems like a simple question, but I said I would ask around on their behalf.

It really depends on the industry and what the top line/bottom line is. No true answer
